Banawe

I never really thought about how much theft is widespread and in a way “acceptable” in the Philippines until I came across the shops in Banawe today. Left and right I see car parts and accessories, and although some establishments may be clean and true, it is unfortunate for me to say that a majority of them are shady in nature.

One of the best examples is when I accompanied my wife’s cousin Alfie who was looking for a Honda emblem for his car… we found what we were looking for and a whole lot more. From outside the packaging it would seem that you are purchasing the emblem brand new, but a closer look would reveal the marks made by a thief who took the emblem from a poor and unknowing victim. Tsk tsk… where is the Philippines going to?
