Health
I have been trying to avoid getting sick since we got to Australia, but with the fast changing weather, its really hard not to, unless you’re really really careful. Unfortunately, I am not one of those highly cautious types, so yes, I got sick yesterday. Starting from a minor headache, it quickly escalated to colds and a fever.
Knowing my history, I immediately took action and got myself some medication… and for quite some time now, got to sleep basically the entire day. Only waking up to calls of nature and the alarm clock telling me to get some food and take my medicine.
It has paid of a little bit since I no longer have the fever. What’s left with my whole day bought with sickness is this increasingly annoying sore throat. Its getting harder and harder for me to speak. The weather right now isn’t helping me either. Oh well, at least I am not bedridden like what happend yesterday.

Equipment
As Kitchie and I were about to watch a movie on my laptop, we noticed that there was barely any sound coming from the built-in speakers. Having a little bit of help desk experience, I tried different titles, even different media, all having the same result.
Since I was basically the only one using the computer, I knew that all drivers and whatnot were up to date. So I concluded that the speakers might have finally conked out on us. So earlier today, we went out looking for a set of speakers… and found a nifty 5.1 package. Unfortunately for us, the store manager told me that for our specific needs, we should look for a smaller set of speakers such as a 2.1 package. Unsure of whether the guy understood what I really needed, I decided not to purchase anything and check out the website of the speakers manufacturer… just to be sure.
Then I realized something, could it be that it was the actual settings of the sound card that has gone awry? I didn’t have the volume control icon on the taskbar so I had to dig into the control panel to check.
Why didn’t I think of it before? I thought to myself as I saw that all controls except the main volume was down to the minimum. Now I wonder, how did that happen?
The Haircut
Knowing both how much a haricut costs here and how simple my haircut is, Kitchie and I decided to purchase a pair of clippers to save us some money and time. And as you would expect, there just had to be some trial and error invloved. But before your imagination goes running wild… read on.
Since we had the clippers ourselves, we thought of having some fun first and have myself my very first mohawk cut. But since we really didn’t have the experience yet, we decided to not push through with the idea and just do it properly. That decision was made properly about a third of the way.
Imagine how we felt when all of a sudden, the clippers just started making all these nasty sounds! And no matter what we do, it just keeps making them. Kitchie, ever so calm and optimist told me that while I was trying to fix it, she would start cutting my hair the old-fashioned way, and I agreed.
Good thing she thought of that. Turns out the clippers were defective and had to be returned to the store. If we pushed through with the mohawk thing, how would the people here react?
