With the success of the Xbox 360 and the recent launch of Windows Vista and Office 2007, it looks like it will be a great year ahead for Microsoft. Then I stumbled upon the Windows Live Ideas website and immediately noticed the excess use of the word Beta. I then thought about a recent podcast netcast I was listening to, where they were talking about the use of the term and how much websites are abusing it nowadays.

Having some Web development knowledge as well, I understand that giving access to sites to the public can help in the testing and other stages of the website, but this is indeed just too much. After all, ‘Beta’ should be used lightly and not to be confused with an excuse.

Oh, and is it just me, or is the Windows Live Ideas website an attempt to take on the likes of Google and 37 Signals just to name a few?
