Christmas present

Despite it being our very first Christmas away from home, family and friends, our first Australian Christmas is actually pretty good. As I am writing this entry, Tim is sitting on the couch with his bottle of milk while watching cartoons. Kitchie on the other hand is toiling away in the kitchen for what looks and smells like a very wonderful Christmas lunch.

Just last Friday, we had our annual break-up day, where most of the day involves mingling with both the morning and afternoon shift workers, having different kinds of raffles, a secret Santa, and of course the huge catered buffet at lunch. It was my first time attending such an event and it was great! For the raffle, I even got to pick out my own name! Talk about luck… I won for myself a bottle of red wine (Shiraz). For those of you who don’t know, I really don’t like drinking red wine, but just the thought of winning something really raised my spirits. Not to mention that it has been two years since the company held one of those raffles, as one of my colleagues mentioned.

I left after having a hearty meal of steak, turkey, pasta, bread and coleslaw… with heaps of Boags beer! I met with Kitchie and Tim at Rundle Mall afterwards and we were surprised as to how many people were doing their last minute shopping. My previous post on the Christmas rush was nothing compared to this one.

Yesterday, we went to Woolworth’s to get the stuff we need for our Noche Buena and our Christmas day meal. Due to our previous experiences, we were expecting a lot of people once we arrived. To our surprise, it was pretty laid back. There were people doing some shopping but not as much. What’s even better was that most of what we really needed were on special!

Tim also received a present from tito Bryan, tita Tam and cousin Joaquin, and he has been on the little firetruck ever since! Thanks again for a very wonderful gift.

Before the day ended, Paul and Marie together with tita Emma and her husband dropped by to give us Tim’s present… a Duplo train and a great looking candle set for Kitchie and myself. Thank you so much again for all your help and the gifts too.

Today, we’re planning to do a movie marathon, and get Tim outside to ride his new bike complete with helmet. There isn’t much but I will be posting all the photos by tonight. Just make sure to check your inbox for the invites.

From my family to yours, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
