Missing life in the Philippines

As my wife would always say, our decision to move to Australia was born from her childhood dreams. But from the moment we arrived and as more time passes by, it would seem that life down under is actually suiting me better than her… at least in terms of food.
Growing up, my brother and I weren’t really exposed to traditional Filipino food as compared to my wife who hails from Baliuag… where stews, lechon and other stuff that will make anyone salivate.
Having been living here in Australia for almost a year now, we have been treated to a lot of great food, not to mention the availability of ingredients that would virtually be impossible to find back home… here, its in basically every grocery store.
I have been feeling sorry for Kitchie each time she says she misses this and that, I also feel a bit guilty that I haven’t really been affected with our migrating… that is, until now.
Searching for the images to be used for today’s issue of Good News Pilipinas, I glanced upon an image that suddenly made me realize what I was missing… taho. Others may call it cheap or whatever demeaning term, but at the end of the day, I honestly miss traditional Filipino treat.
But don’t get me wrong, I miss everything good about the Philippines, especially family and friends that we left behind. Its just that life here is really good too. If only we could bring everyone with us…
