Smooth to the Touch

With a sigh of relief, the long-awaited iPod Touch is finally in my hands. My hands sweating from the excitement as I was walking out of the store. The packaging was still that of Macy Gray, but rest assured that we checked out the serial number… and it was week 38 issues.
I remember a friend talking to me one time about the packaging of the Touch, and comparing it to the more eye-pleasing packaging of the new nanos. I knew about how Apple is trying to be more eco-friendly, and that was what I thought. But releasing the actual box from its thin plastic shell reveals something more… its different from what the previous iPods where encased in. This one I must say, is oozing of class.
I was disappointed for a few minutes when I couldn’t find the cloth to be used for wiping down those fingerprints. Its good I double-checked the part where the documentation and other paraphernalia was. Yep, it was there. But I was expecting a little bit more than what I saw.
Syncing for the first time took longer than I expected. Its way faster than my previous experience so I guess I shouldn’t complain. I haven’t had the chance to organise my contact list so for now, only my songs, photos and events are loaded. I thought my videos would sync up to but I guess I made a mistake while I was encoding them. I will have another go some time.
Connecting to my Wi-Fi was a breeze, and I was surfing the Internet on the Touch in a matter of minutes. What did I do? First I checked out those web apps that Apple recently released. No fun there. Until they allow third party apps on both the iPhone and iPod Touch, people will have to use some kind of wireless Internet connection to use these applications.
I still haven’t got the chance to complete the album art on all my songs, but I’m getting there. For now, I will test out the other features of this thing. More to come as weeks pass.
