Building blocks of the dark side

As a kid, I was pretty fascinated with how things were built and how they were working… hence the interest in the building blocks of Lego. I remember following the instructions on the box to build a particular model a few times. But after a while, I grow tired of it and imagine what else I can do with what I had.

Back when the show “The Highwayman” where the main character had a modified Mack truck with a cab that doubles as the cockpit for a helicopter. Back then, I found this pretty cool… dunno with other folks though. So I went and created my own (red) version. Too bad I dismantled it a few years ago, and never took a photo. It didn’t look anywhere near the one on the tube, but back then, it was close enough.

I was also one among many people to succumb to the seemingly never-ending Star Wars fever. What particulary got my attention, aside from the lights and humming sounds of lightsabers were the AT-AT Imperial Walker and AT-ST Imperial Scout. Pretty impressive machinery to the eyes of a child.

And now the two things in my childhood have come together with the Lego Star Wars collection. This has been around for a while, and I actually have seen the Imperial Scout in one of the stores here. But surfing around the net has revealed the release of a motorized Imperial Walker… this has got m full attention.

I do not have any of these, and I don’t know if I am ever getting any of them. But a man can dream…
