Using the Apple Aluminum Keyboard

Some months have passed since upgrading to the Aluminum Apple Keyboard, and I must say I really like what Apple has done here. I am not using the wireless version for I cannot be bothered with changing batteries every once in a while.
I do a lot of work on several websites that I handle, and this new keyboard helps me most with two things. First, the iTunes controls are just a keystroke away. I no longer need to open up iTunes just to do minor controls like next / previous song as well as volume changes.
Another thing that I found pretty useful was the lack of noise while I type. No more annoying sounds of the keys as I type. Now this may be a good thing for me most of the time but bad at some times as well, for even if I am really busy with work, Kitchie wouldn’t know if she was on the next room.
The new keyboard isn’t as hard to clean either. There’s really no need to try and squeeze whatever cleaning devices you have into the tiniest crevices just to remove the muck that has gathered throughout the years. Just a wipe from a damp cloth and you’re good to go.
I did find something weird though… Apple says that the two USB 2.0 connections can be fully utilized only when using the Aluminum iMacs. Otherwise, only the Mighty Mouse (or any other mouse for that matter), can be used with it. But for some reason, both ports work just fine under Windows Vista.
I haven’t really done much research on this so I don’t know if it has been documented on other sites or if there is some sort of solution. Nonetheless, I find it pretty weird that a certain feature can’t work on OS X but practically flawless on Microsoft.
