It was probably a result of bad timing coupled with bad luck when Inang came to visit us a while back. When she arrived, it was a scorching 39 degrees. When she left 3 weeks after, it was again at a high of 39 degrees. Although there was a week of cold weather giving us respite and hope of the coming autumn, it was actually nature’s cruel way of teasing us, making us wish that the cooler months are upon us.

Inang has come and gone, but unfortunately for us, we are braving the longest heat wave in South Australia in 75 years. During the day, everyone resorts to staying in air-conditioned places or the beach. The nights barely bring any comfort for even if we leave windows open, the winds are either warm or totally non-existent.

I feel very sorry and concerned for Kitchie and Tim, for they are the ones left here at home when I am off at work. They do have the air conditioning at full blast during the worst parts of the day, but it seems as if it only brings slight comfort.

Right now, things seems to have cooled down a bit. So hopefully the weather will be back to normal… or at least get to the mid 20s. It’s times like these when we wish it was winter.
