A funny moment

As kids, my brother and I were influenced by how our uncles and aunts loved to listen to music. They were very particular to the music of Queen and George Michael. One of them really liked the name George Michael that we actually have a cousin (his son of course), named George Michael… but that isn’t the topic of this post.

My brother was listening to a Janet Jackson album of his, when all of a sudden he hears her say “ay!” which, roughly translated means “Oh no!” or something close to it. So, has Janet Jackson made a boo boo and forget to edit that out? Or has she in fact learned how to speak in Filipino so convincingly?

Obviously its neither. My brother discovered an unfortunate event that was my fault, when I accidentally recorded over the song for a couple of seconds. Tsk tsk… talk about being caught red-handed eh?

What makes it even more interesting is how I actually remembered the moment. I was busy at work listening to my tunes, and I decided to listen to one of Metallica‘s albums (the black one if you wanted to know). What’s the link between Metallica and Janet Jackson you ask? Well, before I actually ripped the album for my iPod from CD (which was legally bought by the way), I had previously bought the same album in cassette form. And while I was enjoying the music the first day, I forgot to take out the tab that will disable the accidental recording over the media. To cut the long story short, I recorded over a few seconds of Metallica’s “Sad but True” song.

To this day, I still remember the sounds of our 2nd year high school homeroom… for that was when the event occurred. So that’s how I got to reminisce over what happened with Janet Jackson’s album. Sigh, pretty weird eh? But then again, whatever takes my mind away from the searing 39 degree heat right?
