The main event

Apart from missing family and friends, one of the really great things I miss about the Philippines is the culmination of various cultures that lead to a wide array of products and services such as food, and television shows.
One of the shows I so fondly miss is World Wrestling Entertainment. Yes, you read it right, I like to watch wrestling shows, despite the fact that almost everything about it is scripted, I am still fascinated with it, specifically the music, costumes, fireworks and acrobatics of the whole act.
Recently, I have started renting out some pay-per-view dvds of WWE, and I must say that although I still enjoy it in its entirety, I am somewhat getting bored… having to fast-forward more and more on certain bouts, and focusing more on the main events themselves. And the fact that I have to make sure that little Timothy is asleep when I start watching doesn’t help either… we wouldn’t want him to copy what he sees on television.
I guess part of me is still clinging on to the days where my friends and I gather together in a room enjoying some wrestling matches of our favorite superstars, and even boasting when our bet defeats the others. It was a common ground between each of us, and that was how most of our friendships were born.
Is the whole year and a half away from WWE made me less of a fan? Are their story lines starting to get a bit stale? Or am I finally outgrowing something that should have taken place even before we left home? Whatever the reason, I will still rent out some of these dvds and see whether or not my fascination remains the same.
