Rain

The much-awaited, long-delayed rain for South Australians has finally arrived, and what at entrance it was, at least for this humble migrant and his family.

We are so used to the rain in the Philippines, large rain drops, spectacular lightning shows and loud thunder. This is typical for any tropical country. Here in Australia is totally different. The rain is more like showers, and as we experienced today (and forecast as to be for the next few days), runs for quite a while.

Immediately I noticed something that I certainly DO NOT miss from the Philippines, and that is, flooding no matter how strong or how long the rain is. It is truly sad that the lack of discipline for the residents coupled with the inability of the government to implement a proper system is leading to floods basically everywhere.

It is almost winter here as well, so add the rain to the already dropping temperature, and you get really cold days and freezing nights. We like it though… it makes us feel that we really our in a different country.
