Bonding moments

For the past 3 weeks every Saturday morning, Timothy and I bring Kitchie to the Women’s and Children’s hospital at the Adelaide CBD for her training as a medical receptionist. This leaves us boys to bond a little for some 5 hours, before we go and pick her up again. Unlike the previous Saturdays, today was on the cold side though, since it was raining the whole night and as we left for the CBD.
We (literally) usually watch a movie or so (Timothy currently loves watching Shrek 2), while dad heats up whatever food mom previously prepared for us to eat for both breakfast and lunch. Today is chicken empanada and sinigang na baboy.
Timothy has also gotten into the activity of drawing and coloring, so this is a chance for his old man to see how his talents have evolved. He is pretty good with identifying colors, but unfortunately, since he plays with his crayons too, we keep having to look for them every time… this means, he is usually left with using only one or two colors at a time.
And although I think he doesn’t like to do so, a little before lunch, I make sure that he takes a nap, to ensure that he doesn’t grow up thin like his dad. I take a nap with him… this also gives me the chance to cuddle up with the little Padawan. At night, he usually sleeps at one side of the bed and it is usually Kitchie who sleeps between us.
Even though today is the last day of her training, I told Kitchie that I have grown to like our Saturday bonding moments, and would like to make it part of our weekend. She pretty much agreed since this gives her a “mom’s day out” of some sort. This will definitely be even better once Kitchie finishes her driving lessons.
