Shrek the Third

When we bought Timothy a dvd of the first Shrek movie, it was quite evident that he was the least bit interested. Back then, it was all about the Pixar movies… Cars, Monsters Inc. and Finding Nemo, just to name a few.

We’re not exactly sure if he just simply got tired of the Pixar movies or if it has something to do with his development. But all of a sudden, he’s been asking for Shrek movies. Watching the first and second in a single day, and sometimes even repeating one (or both!) straight after.

It has already gotten to the point that he even has some of the lines memorized. People familiar with the series know the “Ogres have layers” as said by Shrek (complete with the ogre roar), and “Like an Ogre!” as Fiona and Shrek are having an argument in the second film.

As parents, what Kitchie and I find great about the Shrek movies is that although somewhat distorted to fit an ogre in the story, it still concentrates on fairy tales that a lof of us have come to know and love… I personally think the changes made to these characters made them even more interesting.

I just got Tim to watch the Shrek the Halls Christmas special before I wrote this entry and he just totally loved it! And while we have yet to get him the latest one (pictured), it is nice to know that if and when we do so, it will be greatly appreciated by our little boy.
