Sabrina's lamp – Part 2
Posted Jun 5th, 2008 at 2:48AM CST under FamilyTags: Timothy

Recently, Timothy manages to tire himself out so much that it doesn’t take much of an effort to put him to bed. He even sometimes forgets to turn on the lamp given to him by Sabrina on our previous visit to Sydney.
A couple of days ago however, he asked for his lamp. As hard as I tried, I couldn’t turn it on. I did a little checking and found that the lightbulb has gone. Tim was obviously concerned, and on the verge of tears as he asked if I could fix it. Of course I tried my best to explain to him what was going on, and that we would get a replacement bulb the next day.
I was expecting him to cry his eyes out. But instead, he said “Its ok daddy, fix mo tomorrow”. I was dumbfounded. The level of intelligence kids have these days, its amazing they don’t take care of themselves.
The next day, I was almost ready to leave the room and get the car out of the garage when Timothy said “Dad, yung lamp ko…” using a reminding kind of tone. Its a good thing he said so too, or else I would’ve felt really bad for forgetting it.
When we got a replacement bulb, he didn’t understand that we could get rid of the old one. It took a bit of convincing and a little bit of storytelling to get his mind off it, but we did manage to do so. And arriving home, since it was getting dark already, we decided to plug the bulb in and see little Timothy’s eyes light up, for Sabrina’s lamp was working again.
