Not-so mighty

I’ve had several experiences where the mighty mouse would just stop scrolling downwards. This would usually be solved by moving the scroll ball vigorously in different directions. This time however, no matter how much I tried, nothing would happen. I’ve watched Apple’s instructions on how to clean the mighty mouse, but just like everyone else, it just didn’t help me.
If it were a regular mouse, I would just disassemble the thing, clean the gunk up, put it back together, and everything would be back to normal. Unfortunately Apple made their mouse a little harder to get into. It will require a whole lot of courage just to open the thing. If this wasn’t my only mouse, I would have probably tried too. I tried using air, and even cotton buds with a little bit of alcohol, but whatever is in there just won’t budge. Gross huh?
Then as I was just about ready to give up, I just tried rolling it again and again vigorously in different directions while I had both buttons down. I didn’t have anything to go with, and this was just an act of desperation. Suddenly, I noticed the screen scroll just a tiny bit downwards. Hope at last! I repeated the procedure, and each time also pushing down on the ball more until it was moving more and more.
Everything is back in working order, but now I really understand why most people would like to use a Windows mouse than anything else… not just for the ease of use, but the ease in cleaning as well.
