Clouds

More and more I am noticing my shift from the traditional desktop-based computing to a more accessible form which is computing in the clouds. Now I don’t mean literal clouds, but what has been known as cloud computing. At first, it was just mainly using Google Calendar and then syncing all my calendars to that.

My expansion took the form of YouTube for our videos, WordPress for textual content and most recently, Flickr for photos (and video too).

I can see why more and more people are opting for this kind of computing. Accessibility is virtually unlimited, as long as you have access to the Internet. It takes a load off my local computer, as files are stored offsite, and in the same time serves as a great backup solution… I have backups on discs, on an external drive, and now on the Internet. Once I am done uploading all our photos, I don’t have to worry about losing precious memories (and files) again.

Eventually, I want this site to become a central hub to all things pertaining to me and family. This means having all photos, video and whatnot on one location that everyone can access. And cloud computing is (so far) the best solution for this goal.
