Tim’s new bed

About a month or so ago, Kitchie and I decided to buy Timothy a bed of his own, to help start his independence. We were only able to buy a mattress for him on Sunday, which was delivered yesterday. After a few minutes of setting it up for him today, did he finally get to see and use it. But prior to that, he was already telling us how excited he was for his new bed, and how much he really liked it.
We were very hesitant on starting our son to move from sleeping together with us to his own bed, for we really love cuddling with him all the time, but then we thought about how it will affect him as an individual. Initially, I even suggested that we have him sleep in the other room, but I guess it was just too early for that. Although he now sleeps in his new bed, it is just an arms length from ours. And if we wanted to, it is easy to just reach over and hug him.
In the next few days, I am sure that he will be sleeping between us again… maybe not because he doesn’t want to sleep in his own bed, but simply because Kitchie and I can’t agree on who will sleep beside him.

Whoa kuya! this blog brought back memories! hahaha i was sleeping with tatay and nanay till i was in grade six! embarrasing, i know, but i just couldnt move away! Like tim, i had a small mattress underneath my parents bed that i would just pull out and sleep… but eventually i grew out of it when they suggested i sleep in my own room. I suppose tim may be like that too, just a bit earlier than myself ahahah
Hehe, we’ll see how he goes. Right now though we had a little step backward. He asked if he could sleep with on our bed. I read somewhere that this is normal, and the best way to help him is just move him to his own bed once he falls asleep.
