No matter how hard we try to cling on to the past, time will always have its way… as much as you want to think or believe that time can stand still, no sooner will you realize that all your efforts will be for naught.

One of the biggest milestones for me was getting married to the love of my life Kitchie. I couldn’t believe that it was actually happening. Despite all the preparations, it actually only dawned on me as my mother was walking me to the alter, and as I waited for Kitchie to join me.

Then there was the thrill of realizing that we were expecting. Hearing our still unborn child’s heartbeat brought tears to my eyes. I was going to be a father. We were unsure on whether or not we wanted to know the baby’s gender, but we finally decided to find out on the child’s birthday. I didn’t think I was up to the task, and up until now, I am still trying my best to become a good one.

Anniversaries and birthdays pass, and it was still as if everything happened just yesterday. Only our son grew up fast overnight.

Recent events caused me to think about how time really flies. Before, my friends and I talk about expecting, then child birth. Now, we find ourselves talking more and more about how and where to take our child to school. Some of them now have two kids now (or expecting a second).

In a month’s time, we would be living here in Australia for 2 years. That’s 2 years of being on our own. We all miss family, friends, the food and places that at least Kitchie and I have grown very fond of. And although it would probably take 2 more Christmas holidays before we can go visit the Philippines, we are hoping that time will as usual, go by pretty quick.

I will also celebrate another birthday this coming September. Aging wasn’t really much of an issue for me, even my losing battle with hair loss has been accepted. But I just can’t help think about it when everyday I look at the mirror, more and more gray hairs seem to be coming out of the woodwork. What’s even worse is that Kitchie has started asking me if I wanted to dye my hair.

I probably would in the next few weeks. The color? Well, I will have to get back to you on that.
