Chocoholics unite!

Kitchie has been planning it for about a week now, and finally we were able to go to Haigh’s Chocolate Factory along Greenhill Road. It was wonderful to spend the whole day with my family.
The tour itself didn’t take long. We were given some background information about the company and chocolate for that matter. And as we were about to start, we were handed several pieces of chocolate (for free of course). That gesture made the tour all the more interesting. Unfortunately, no form of image or video capture was allowed during the actual tour so we weren’t able to do anything.
The various ways of preparation and wrapping of the chocolates were clearly seen from the platform where we were, and albeit the factory’s lacking in size, it was great to know a lot about this family-owned, South Australian company still going on strong despite the large amount of competition in their industry.
Before the tour ended, we were again given a handful of chocolates. It was really a great way to show how their products were made, and to entice more and more people to try them out. We were able to have some of their chocolates before, and they were really good. So naturally, before we left we purchased some bags to take home with us.
But there was more! Right after paying for our chocolates, they came and gave us some to try out. And I must say, their peppermint chocolates taste wonderful!
One thing’s for sure, each and every time family will come by to visit us, we will make sure to spend an hour or two on Haigh’s.
