A glimpse of what may come

Apple fans and music aficionados are anticipating the next event of Apple Inc., which this year is set on September 9. And on top of the list for the rumor mills, the next generation of iPods.
The most probable of all the rumors for the upcoming event is the refresh of the iPod nano line. Gone are the days of the fat and small, to be replaced with the candybar iphone-like 4th generation, now boasting a larger screen, otherwise known as the Kevin Rose nano. The fact that it is bigger than the previous nanos has stirred speculation that the iPod mini could rise from the dead.
Based on how alleged 3rd party protective cases for the upcoming nano looks like, it seems that it will be adopting a similar curved shape of the iPhone… a trend Apple is seemingly trying to apply on all its product lines after the Macbook Air.
Looking back, it was about the same time last year that Steve Jobs announced the iPod Touch and the fat nanos. So it is pretty much on schedule if they were actually to announce anything this month.
Whether Apple is going to unleash their new nanos, iPod Touch, a refreshed notebook line, iTunes 8 or all of the above, hopefully they get to first fix the things that are already out that have yet to fully work properly… like certain iPod nanos and of course, MobileMe.
If new Macbook Pros are on the way, either with the new iPods or at a later date, it wouldn’t hurt if somehow it looked like this really cool mockup by Umpa.
