Red Alert 1

It wasn’t long ago when I wrote about going old school in terms of gaming. This time, EA Games in accordance with the impending release of Red Alert 3, is giving away the original Red Alert as a free download.

Sure it may be a 13-year-old game, and sure there are a heck of a lot more of games worthy of the machines we run them in… but there’s just something about old school gaming that has a place at least in this gamers heart. I have downloaded and installed the original Command and Conquer game, and I amazingly still enjoyed playing with it.

Red Alert consists of 2 discs, each at 500MB in size. And as with the previous game, you will have to extract the ISO image then burn it to disc before installing it on your system. Then you can play either the Soviets or Allied Forces by popping in your preferred CD.

If you’re planning to purchase Red Alert 3, then it would be a good idea to pre-order the game off the website. Why? Well, if you do, you will also be able to download Red Alert 2 for free! Its a great way to promote a new game as well as help keep the older ones alive.
