Growing up…

Despite the changes little Timothy has to go through living here in Adelaide, so far, he is turning out to be a real champ. There are a lot of negative people in the world, and it is really nice to know that there is still hope in our children.

The young boy has learned to appreciate life and others, always making sure that he doesn’t hurt the feelings of others… and as much as he can, try not to disappoint. Yes, he can be a little rowdy at times, but not more than a normal kid is expected to be. Most of the time, it is us adults who think they’re just a little bit too much. But in fact, all they are doing is being themselves… being a child.

My son looks up to me as anyone would their father. And although he has learned a lot from me in the past 3 years, I have learned even more from him. I have become a better person, and my outlook in life has totally changed because of him. Like many parents before me, how I wish that the world would be just like how toddlers are, friendly and caring towards each other… then there would be no problems in the world. If there were any, everyone would just pitch in to help.

A child’s innocence is the purest thing, and sometimes, their innocence can also bring us joy and laughter. The other night, as we were having dinner out, Tim asked my permission. His words were: “Dad, pag laki na ako pwede na ako inom beer at saka coke at coffee?“. We all just burst into laughter.

He’s also into celebrations. In the past week, I celebrated both my 33rd birthday and father’s day. And ever since, especially with the latter, he’s been greeting me each time I get home. I guess he sees how much I love him greeting me so that’s why he tries to do it as often as he wants to.

Spring and our recent visits to the beach has made Timothy remember how much he loves the outdoors. Over the weekend, we will have him fly his first kite and do some other kid stuff that he couldn’t do during the winter season.

Our little padawan doesn’t skimp on affection either. Always making sure he says his I love yous to his mom and dad with frequent hugs and kisses. He doesn’t fail to thank people and knows how to receive thanks too. The best part is that he knows when to say sorry, and if you are the one who is supposed to apologize, he will not fail to let you know… I am unsure if this is a good thing while he’s young, but for sure things will even out as he grows older.
