Metallia S&M

Its been a long time coming, and finally Metallica has returned with what seems to be their music of old in Death Magnetic. More noise, more riffs. My love for the band has strengthened.

But this post isn’t about their latest album. This is about how I made my first purchase of a music dvd… something I have been wanting to do for a long time. And the choice I made was Metallica’s S&M with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.

I have been collecting dvds for a while, and amazing as it may seem, I have actually never bought one that was just music or from a concert. And with Kitchie not really into metal music and us not really wanting to expose little Timothy with noise and such, we try as much as we can to avoid these kinds of things.

I actually planned it to be just for personal consumption… on the computer or for when the both of them are fast asleep. But when I opened the disc up to just see if everything was in working order, things were different. Kitchie did like a couple or so songs in it. Plus the combination of the band’s music and the orchestral accompaniment made things quite interesting for our little boy.

Suffice to say that it looks like Tim and Kitchie’s exposure to Metallica’s music is a good experience for them. Really great songs can come from any band or singer, whaever the genre.
