Something smells good…

Despite the backlog of work and chores around the house, it’s always nice to do a little bit of relaxing in the weekend. All the more so if most our targeted goals for completion have been done.

So we decided to finally get our very own grill… something that we have been wanting to do since we settled here. Kitchie and I have been longing for some barbecue for quite a while now, so it was just a matter of time until we finally gave in.

Excitement has made me wake up a bit earlier than usual to sit down and set up the grill. A couple of scratches and approximately 45 minutes after, it was done. Tested the hose and all connections to the gas cylinder and everything seemed alright… until we realized that the cylinder I bought was actually empty. Hey, its my first time so give me a break ok?

I rushed to the nearby gasoline station and swapped the empty thing and went back to an eager and excited Kitchie and Timothy. It was good that I was able to get a full one too… I would’ve certainly felt bad if despite all our hard work, an empty cylinder would hinder us from enjoying the fruits of our labor.

I must admit that for a long time, I never really got into something like this. Maybe its the smoke or the smell of it that sticks to you long after you’ve finished eating. Today was quite different. Seeing how my family was all excited starting from opening the box and assembling the grill, I saw what a lot of Australians (and other outdoorsy people for that matter), have been enjoying for ages. It’s not just the food or the fun in its preparation, but the quality time you get to share with the entire family while doing so.

Now, there’s more for us to look forward to every weekend and holidays. Like a kid with a new toy, Kitchie and I are already thinking about what we would like for next weekend.
