The evolution of WordPress

After careful planning, research and a bit of bumming around, I finally got off my lazy behind to update my version of WordPress… and boy am I liking it!
In terms of the user interface, spectacular. Being able to see just about everything that is going on in our blog is great. And, if you’re not into that sort of thing, then not to worry. Simply click on the Screen Options button and down comes a checklist of things you may or may not want activated.
The simpler, cleaner Dashboard is something I have been looking forward to. Previously, I relied on the Fluency Admin plugin to get to a more subdued and cleaner look. It was great and all, but for someone like me who is in search of a plugin-less WordPress installation, version 2.7 is slowly getting there.
I unwittingly disabled my Database backup plugin two months ago. With this new version’s way of managing plugins, it didn’t take long for me to have it back and running. Even the rest of the plugins and my theme which I disabled prior to upgrading took no more than a few seconds to reactivate. It actually felt like nothing really happened.
There are a whole lot more features that I have yet to discover, and I am pretty excited to read up on each and every one of them.
You might find that at least on the end-user point of view, there is really no visible changes other than the threaded or paged comments, if you see it on my end, WordPress 2.7 only shows that this open source platform is headed into something very, very exciting.
