An impending resurrection

Officially unveiled during the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show, the Palm Pre joins the ever-growing list of next generation smart phones that incorporates both a touch screen interface with a QWERTY keyboard.
On paper, this looks like a very promising product, offering even more options to connect with our already busy lives. If done right, if one particular product consolidates everything that we do in the real world, then Palm is certainly most welcome.
Developers are already starting to like how Palm’s Mojo SDK WebOS is turning out. Yes, it looks like the company is more than willing to have an open ecosystem with application developers, a trend that is becoming more and more common to smart phones as of late.
And with App Catalog to provide a service for selling applications, this might just be a good contender in the market.
Palm hasn’t really been in the running for quite some time now, and it might just take more than a single handset to recover from their market losses due to smart phones. As a consumer however, I wish Palm all the best and hope that their new entry will offer even grater competition between the manufacturers, and resulting in us on top with all the new hardware options.
