Francis Magalona, 1964-2009

We only learned about the sad news today, and I just couldn’t believe my eyes. The Philippines’ Master Rapper Francis Magalona lost his bout with leukemia yesterday, the 6th of March 2009. I was aware of his failing condition, but just like everyone else, I was thinking that he could make it through.
I personally had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Magalona once where, together with co-developer Erwin Carlos and our friend Loonie, we set out to meet with him and his team to develop his own official website. Unfortunately, schedules and the unavailability of different people made this pretty much impossible to do, and with is having to leave for Australia, there was really nothing left but to abandon the project altogether.
Despite the fact that it was our first time meeting with him, he seemed really friendly. His humility as well as giving credit to where it is due won us over… and that was just that one day. I cant even imagine how those working around him feel.
In my earlier years, I did listen to a lot of his albums, and the loss will definitely be a huge one for the listening public as well.
Our condolences to his bereaved family. And to everyone else, just grant them their request for privacy. God knows that they need the closest of their family and friends during this time.
