Dad, twice over

It was 5 years, 5 months and 6 days ago when I first had the pleasure of being a father. I was afraid that I might not be good enough. But with the help of Kitchie and our newborn Timothy, I was able to grow as well.
Fast forward to now and Timothy now goes to school and is often asking us if he could have a brother or sister. Our prayers were answered today, when we were told that the baby would likely be a girl… unless it is pretty good at hiding its little birdie.
We are aware that ultrasound scans are no where near a hundred percent in terms of accuracy. And we are indeed doing a bit of a gamble in terms of what things to buy as well as letting other people know of the news. But since all we were really interested in is actually having another baby, girl or boy is just fine by us.
There was some sort of miscommunication at first, and we nearly weren’t able to get an appointment for Kitchie’s ultrasound. With what probably was a combination of luck and the kindness of the people doing the schedules, they were able to do something for us and fit us in.
It took us a little over an hour to do all the imaging… the technician doing the scanning said that the baby was a bit shy at first and was always wound up like a little ball. She was eventually able to get everything she needed and told us that she checked twice in regards to the gender, and that she does not see anything that can lead her to think that it was anything other than a baby girl.
It was way past lunch time, and we didn’t even have our breakfast yet. But both Kitchie and I then went off to the nearby mall and like any other parent preparing for there second child, had a look at what is on offer on all the baby clothing stores. We did have lunch prior to going of course… we just did it really quick so that we could have more time looking around.
So tonight, Kitchie, Timothy and I will go to bed feeling happy and content… being able to at least get a little glimpse of the little hands and feet that go fluttering about inside Kitchie every so often. I have experienced seeing the process before, but it never seems to get old.
